Mark William Bromley
1975 - 2006
Mark was born on the 11th March 1975, at Stone Park Hospital Beckenham.
Within 2 weeks of Mark's birth he was diagnosed with a genetic condition called Cystic Fibrosis, CF as it is more commonly known.
Cystic Fibrosis is the UK's most common life-threatening inherited condition affecting 7,500 children and young people. This condition affects vital organs in the body, especially the lungs and the digestive system, clogging them with sticky mucus.
Every week five babies are born with CF and sadly each week three young lives are lost.
There is presently no cure for Cystic Fibrosis.
Mark was given a very short life expectancy but with lots of love from all around him and a very strong self determination he fought his way through to March 17th 2006, a week after his 31st Birthday.
Mark astounded everyone he knew with his strength and lust for life. often thinking less for himself and more for others. He led a very active life playing many sports including basketball and his real love football. Despite many set backs in 1994 he joined Coutts Bank in London where he made many friends.
Mark always made the most of his situation and was determined to travel (Europe, USA & South Africa). Keeping his friends together was also important to him, offering help guidance to all who needed it 'There are people out there, worse off than me' he used to say.
This is his legacy, always keep your friends and family as one and help less fortunate people than yourself. Life is too short to be selfish.
